OUR COMMUNITY
Rancho Ecologico Sekkan is an intentional community dedicated to building harmonious and sustainable relationships with each other and the environment.
Committed to working out of the principles of Anthroposophy, biodynamic farming, and permaculture, Rancho Sekkan brings together those with a shared vision of a sustainable, self-sufficient, and self-governed community that draws upon the diverse skills and capacities of its members.

Biodynamic Farming
Biodynamics is a holistic, ecological, and ethical approach to farming, gardening, food, and nutrition.
Biodynamics is rooted in the work of philosopher and scientist Dr. Rudolf Steiner.
Permaculture &
Water Harvesting
We are committed to regenerating the land through the latest water conservation initiatives and we aspire to become part of the Village Water Harvesting and Reforestation project in San Miguel de Allende.

Living
Sekkan means “unity” in the local Nahualt language, and we strive to create a community that brings individual members together with their many diverse strengths, talents, and capacities to create a greater “whole”.
COMMUNITY FEATURES
Rancho Sekkan is located near the magical town of Atotonilco and 20 minutes away from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The area around has been designated as one of the best travel destinations in the world time and time again by Travel and Leisure and is also considered one of the best places for expats to settle in Mexico. Atotonilco has access to all of the tourist attractions of culture, food, and friendliness of San Miguel de Allende while offering a family lifestyle in the country. The cities of Queretaro and Guanajuato are each one hour away and Mexico City four hours by car or bus.
OUR LOCATION
Our community is located on about 37 acres surrounded by a natural rural landscape.
A stunning “hacienda” is at the heart of the community and is the center of cultural, recreational, and other cultural activities.
At the moment, Rancho Ecológico Sekkan strives to be the first self-sustainable, biodynamic farm of its kind in the San Miguel de Allende area.
The Rancho Sekkan community aspires to be of service to others, trying to establish similar projects by sharing relevant knowledge and skills.
